Progress yesterday!

I am so proud of my husband.

He got a desk job in another division of the city-- he had been a lifeguard/aquatic facility manager for close to 25 years. So yesterday he went through ALL his old and new uniforms, getting rid of all the stuff that was stained, damaged, and getting pretty tired looking. He does have to keep some uniforms for up to a year just in case, but! We were able to get rid of close to two-thirds of accumulated outfits. This includes all the stuff that had been in his car as well.

Since his new job is corporate-casual, that meant that we needed to go through the rest of his clothes and assess what he needed. He filled nearly two large donation boxes of things that were outgrown, or messed up in some way-- and we went shopping and got him some new shirts and pants and shoes to fill out what he was able to keep. While, yeah... we may not have reduced what he had concerning his wardrobe... he was ok with letting go of some favorite shirts and a bunch of things that could have just been pushed to the side of the closet and take up room. And this all was an investment into our future :) He even mentioned how it felt so much nicer to not have all that stuff there anymore! And boy is he going to look sharp!

Hope y'all didn't mind, I just had to share.

The feeling once stuff has gone is great, isn't it? So congratulations on the sorting through and getting rid of the old and in with the new. Good luck to your husband with the new job as well.

Yay! That's great! I got to do similar earlier in the year (also work related, though years after I should have) and just gutted everything. And haven't missed anything being gone at all. \o/
