checking in!
Last week I: acquired something that needs some TLC, for which I don't have a designated home in my house yet, but which I am sure I can very trivially make someone else's problem, and make their day by doing it. (It's an overlocker. It was on Freecycle. Apparently nobody else wanted it?!) Nevertheless it is sat on one end of the sofa staring accusingly at me and I should Do Something About That.
But I did also do some actual uncluttering!
How about you?
But I did also do some actual uncluttering!
- accepted I wasn't going to get around to getting the broken key out of my cheap bike frame lock, ordered a replacement, and put the broken one in the recycling
- removed (and recycled) the packaging from a bunch of insulating wool that had been Accumulating from food orders various, and distributed it as mulch around relevant plants
- got the last few bits of the stuff that had been lurking into the garage loaded up into a bag to take to the allotment
this is not quite true, because I spotted one more lurking in the garage after I'd bagged the rest, but it's going to be true within fifteen minutes of me posting this, or at least if it's not I'm going to come back and fess up - rediscovered a stack of plastic food containers I'd been intending to return to my parents, and moved them from the shelves by the front door (where "things to go back to other people" live, but I'd overlooked them the last... several... visits) into the current box of Stuff To Take Along Next Visit
- returned some other property to a friend that has been sitting on said shelves since the Before Times, via an outdoors meet-up
- boil-washed an item that, if a boil-wash didn't fix it, needed to be binned (and the boil-wash did fix it!)
- took some more steps toward finding potential homes for some sad brass instruments that are currently in my care (and I'm going to go and e-mail the museum that is potentially relevant to one of them now.)
How about you?

I've been feeling very accomplished myself over the past week or so.
Last week, I finally took a bag of miscellaneous electrical waste — that has been slowly accumulating for mumblety-years — to the recycling point! (I may be taking a second load soon-ish, now that I know what size of thing can be taken to that recycling point.)
I also got rid of another load of household recycling. (That's now back under control, so I just need to keep on top of it.)
And I sorted out three boxes of books (and a couple of miscellaneous items) to take to the charity shop. The plan is to drop those off this Wednesday.
I then filled the space I'd made on the shelves with books I want to keep that have been hanging around waiting for a home. Which means that on Friday I can return two plastic storage boxes I'd borrowed. (As I still have books that need to be shelved, I need to have another, more ruthless cull of what's currently on the shelves.)
Also made some progress in the garage. Mostly tidying and stacking things so I can get at the stuff that actually needs to leave, but I did throw a few things into a rubbish bag that will have more added to it before the next collection day.

And of course well done you! HURRAH for finding out that you can recycle more things than you thought you could in semi-convenient places, hurrah for charity shop donations, and thrice hurrah for the garage progress :)
