Weekend Uncluttering

What uncluttering have you achieved today?

I took a box of random Stuff to the op-shop. First choice wasn't accepting donations, so I took it to one I'm less keen on, but I'm okay with that as a compromise.

And I have sewn half a container full of fabric squares into the start of a really simple quilt. I'm thinking that what I'll do is make a single bed one and donate it to the local refuge. Because I *really* like the soothing aspects of sewing simple quilts, but I don't have a use for them, and I already have multiple incomplete baby quilts.

I have tackled more of the Paper To Be Filed pile - I didn't manage to get anything done on it during the week, but I had a good 45 minute session today, which also involved rejigging my filing cabinet a bit so the files I reference most often are nearer the front and easier to reach.

I also removed entirely from the filing cabinet the folders that hold Post For People Who Have Moved Out and found some space for them on some nearby shelves. I filed into them the current stack of Post For People Who Have Moved Out. At some point I will go through my last emails for those people and see what they want doing with the post, but there is no urgency to it, and that bit of clutter is now contained and organised ... again, so long as I keep filing the occasional arrival straight into the folders as post arrives.

Anyway, now the filing cabinet has room for actual paperwork I want to keep rather than paperwork I want someday to hand off to its owners, and it is easier for me to put newly-arrived paperwork straight into it, and the Paper To Be Filed pile is smaller again.

Woohoo on getting one of the op shops to take a box of Stuff -- and the quilt project sounds like an excellent idea!

This week, I got some shredded paperwork and another load of garden waste out of the house. Also made more progress with shredding paperwork, and am almost done with this load. :-) And I managed to offload three large garden pots on my sister, who mentioned she needed some (on the basis she was free to say no if she hated them when she saw them).

I am also back to working on stuff in the garage, so I can more easily get it into my car to take to the tip. Slow but steady progress.

Yay for filed paperwork and under-control piles of paper and filing cabinets with room to file things! Well done. :-)

I used a plant potter that's been languishing in the garage--new plant! I don't have a good track record with keeping plants alive, so it's really anyone's guess as to how long until the planter is back in the garage, sans plant.

Added a few small things to the handmedown bin.

Donating a quilt sounds amazing. I used to knit baby blankets all the time and donated them. Then I knit hats and donated them. Just because I like the act of knitting. So I encourage you to donate your work! How lucky a person will feel getting a handmade quilt.

Well done on your progress! I managed to drop several books off for a friend on Saturday and deal with the odd bit of recycling but that was about it over the weekend.

Good luck with keeping the plant alive -- I hope you enjoy looking at it (and the planter). :-) And good work on putting things in the handmedown bin when you realise it's time.

Good going on the books!
