Weekend Uncluttering

How goes the uncluttering this weekend?

I've done very little active decluttering -- I've realised that if I have to rinse out the laundry detergent bottles before putting them in the recycling (a task I have put off, because of issues with the laundry), I can just pour the suds into a wash load about to go on! Today, across three loads of washing, I have cleaned out one of the bottles. Thus, another few weeks, and all the empty bottles should be gone.

Passive decluttering -- youngest has identified more clothes they have grown out of (they were going through their seasonal stash, I think). And a friend came and picked up their share of books from a mutual friend. I had done a half arsed sort of 'I don't have these ones (most of them)', with the expectation that the friend would take those I didn't have, and a significant proportion of the others. Instead, they just took the ones I didn't have, given that they are actually a sequence I'm kind of collecting, and they can always borrow them from me later. This means I have a box for 'things to go to the op-shop', which I haven't had for a while.

Edit: Okay, more things to the garage sale bin for a friend. Spouse cleaned off a shelf in the office. I listed a thing for sale.

I bought some containers and moved my daughter's Play-Doh collection from the boxes they kept falling out of into the containers.

And I went through the bag of winter stuff and found a few pairs of gloves to donate or use in craft projects.

I'm also gathering books to weed out so when I have time, I will skim through them and see if they are worth reading.

I've been entering my books into Librarything and a) discovered some books we own two of and b) have begun the process of weeding my ebooks.

(oh, duplicate books, how do they keep happening. I managed to order a second copy of something only last week, which means I have something else for the gifts pile...)

I bought a mail organizer and put labels on it for inbox/outbox. I then went through the mail and got all the spam out of it, and into the recycling.

Well done! Did you find that there was a high proportion of spam?

There really was. I need to get off of some mailing lists.

I hope that helps! I find that several organisations who have good reason to be sending me things (eg. bills) have taken to adding spam ('newsletters') as 'add ins'. I wish I could work out how to get the two separated.
