adair: stack of books (books)

An organizer for the New York rich

The wealthy people in big New York apartments have organizing problems too, and one of their own has a business helping them throw things away. Most of the talk in this article seems to be about children's stuff. There appears to be space in the apartments for adult things - a closet for handbags, for instance. No one seems to mention books, which are my biggest problem.

My other big problem is I've not taken time to learn coding for posting links, so this is just copy and paste.

She lost me at "mismatched hangers". This is not an organizational problem. Not having enough hangers is an organizational problem.

The thing about books is that nobody seems to talk about them. Even the people who make lists of the 100 Things They Own will mention in passing that they're just not counting books because books are magical and never get disorganized, cluttery or overwhelming.

The books are the bit that is totally killing me. I don't even know what to do because there are so many and they just can't come. :(

http://unclutterer.com/discuss/topic/the-library-that-ate-my-apartment had some good discussion on the subject, though I don't usually go as far as people there sometimes advocate.
