One in, one out and shake it all about
So I messed up and thought I'd posted earlier in the week, but turns out I sent it to my journal instead of here *headdesk*
I shall try again, with hopefully a little more intelligence!
So out went :-
2 garden candles (given to family members who have a garden!)
Pack of handkerchieves (donated to charity shop)
Pen set (donated to charity shop)
7 books (donated to local school library),
5 videos (donated to local school for children’s use),
10 videos & 22 hardback books (given to local school fayre)
3 bottles of shower gel/bath foam (donated to charity shop)
1 box of Body Shop strawberry flavored toiletries (donated to charity shop)
12 books (6 given to family, 6 given to school fayre)
Out of date/non useable medicines from medicine cabinet (returned to pharmacy)
Shredded old receipts etc (does this one count? It was a big job and took ages!)
Which were then joined by ...
4 boxes of out of date chocolates
1 set of cutlery (donated to the staff kitchen at work, which is always short!)
3 wooden puzzle games
3 never read books
8 CDs (given to charity shop)
3 Belts (donated to SA)
3 packs of nylons (all not my size)(as unopened donated to SA)
1 pair old trainers (bin)
1 shower curtain (had bought the new one between Christmas and New Year and never got round to replacing it)
1 finished shower gel (unwanted gift but used - thanks to everyone who commented on my post earlier in the week - I've decided to go with if I'm using it up with no intention to replace and it's something that I wouldn't have normally bought then I'll count it - when I get down to the last one and start to replace stuff I'll stop counting)
I've put on one side to go when I work out where to take them - 5 Andromeda dvd boxsets, 13 B7 videos, 1 TV (charity shops don't want them :(. ) Until I work out what to do with them, I'm not counting them as gone!
Taking the total 'outs' to 93 - which I was feeling really good about . . . until...
In came :-
Lost Season 6 DVD,
Sherlock DVD,
4 tops from M&S,
3 tops & 1 sweatshirt from Jacks,
1 potato peeler,
1 hob scraper,
1 chopping board,
1 tree cookie cutter
I also bought some fabric - miscellaneous pieces to finish off a patchwork quilt I'm in the midst of making (6 pieces)
1 book
1 DVD (Luther) both were ordered before NY and just arrived
6 used books that some one else was throwing away! Doh!
*sigh* Total for the 'ins' was 28.
So admittedly my outs are still pleasingly higher than my ins, but I hadn't intended to bring quite so many in - I did need some new tops to wear and will now head back to hunt through the wardrobe for more outs again and the old potato peeler peels nothing! The DVDs were ordered before I started on this, they just happened to arrive this week.
Overall, 65 more items went out than in. Last time I counted for the week I was 2 up on the outs, I guess that makes me 67 overall - but I'm pretty determined to go find some more stuff now!
Current total (minus the next 7 days) = -60 (so I'm winning the battle against the clutter slowly!)
The other good thing about this is I went up to the loft to look round (hence the large number of videos and books going out) because I needed some wool and I was sure I still had some bits up in the loft because I need to make some baby clothes. The bonus was I found two partially knitted baby tops, that I am now busy finishing off.
I shall try again, with hopefully a little more intelligence!
