I have consulted with my mother, who has been gardening longer than I've been alive, and she has recommended me a brand (Resolva) which is delivered by Amazon. So I should be equipped by Tuesday, and the weather should continue non-rainy, not-too-hot all week, so I have NO EXCUSE not to keep up momentum.

Which is: I did get out and strim everything back this afternoon, and if I can make myself get out again tomorrow, I can tidy up from the strimming, and prepare for weedkilling and then mulch. So I should probably order the mulch now too.
